All our Lancashire libraries will be closed on bank and public holidays. There are additional closures on extra statutory dates.

Can I donate some books to the library?

It is really good of you to think about donating books to us, thank you.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept book donations.

The library service in Lancashire has a number of contracted suppliers who deliver books directly to libraries according to a specification which ensures that the books are suitable for the needs of our members at each of our libraries. The books reach each library in a shelf ready condition with labels, barcodes and protective sleeves which are tailored to our requirements.

Due to the very high number of volumes purchased each year we do not have the staffing resources to carry out our own processing of donated books and it would not be cost effective to do so.

There are, however, a number of independent community libraries in Lancashire which are not funded by the local authority and who may be grateful for any donations you wish to make. The details for each of these libraries can be found on the Community Libraries webpage
